| Title of the related experiment: | Practice of Shielded Metal Arc Welding (SMAW) on a fillet joint in the flat/horizontal position (1F/2F) using a welding simulator |
| A brief explanation of the usage of the said equipment | This system helps establish a standardised procedure for the safe, efficient, and effective operation of welding simulation to train students in welding techniques without the hazards, consumable costs, and environmental impact associated with conventional welding. The simulator provides realistic virtual training for SMAW, GMAW, FCAW and GTAW while evaluating welding parameters such as travel speed, work angle, travel angle, contact tip to work distance (CTWD), arc length and weld quality. The simulator consists of the following sub-parts for its use for practice and learning: This system provides an interface for the selection of type of joint, thickness of material, type of material, welding type, and welding parameters in a proper combination and order as per WPS to learn and practise a particular type of welding in a particular welding position on a particular joint using a standard welding technique. Hence, this system helps learners develop and improve welding skills in a safe working environment, with environmentally friendly operation, minimal electricity consumption and zero consumable costs.
